Day 12: The Lady, The Dress and The Orchestra

I liked the red orange color of this dress as well as the grayish brown flower prints.

But I hate these balls hanging at the seams, so they had to go. And the sleeves, yeah they are gone too! :)

But I kept the back, less halter, more covered, as my sister's preference.

Day 11: The 500 Days of Summer Dress for 25 Pesos

This was literally her face when I showed her this dress. She was not happy at all.
But I just knew there is  a beautiful dress somewhere in this.

The structure and construction of this dress definitely have the makings of Zooey Deschanel's 500 Days of Summer Dress.

Baby Chiyo loves this fabric and kept rolling over it.

Here is the end result:

Cost: Php 25.00

Day 10: Turn a XXL top into a dress

Another refashion project : a XXL top to turn into a dress. Sorry about the poor photo. I took it with an old phone. And despite my effort to enhance it, this is the best I came up with. Anywho, here is my other sister wearing it at a Biggs Diner after grocery shopping.

Day 9: Turn an old sweater into a dress

This is an old sweater and as you can see it is too big. However, the print is too cute so I turned it into a dress.

The first step to do that is to cut the sleeves ofF. No patterns just follow the seamline of the sleeves. If it is to big for you, you can adjust it by going a few centimeters up. Sweaters are stretchable so you don't need a pattern, just simple estimate. Or trace another sweater that fits you perfectly.

As for the sleeves, we can use the wrist area just like what I did in Good Little Girl Dress

See how I just make a simple sleeve pattern? That is the basic shape of a sleeve.

Anyway, here is how it looks like now:

Day 8: The Tassel Hassle Dress

Lace details, check! Tassels, double check!! I love this ukay find. This looks brand new. And I got it for only 20 pesos. How lucky!

LOL!! THE DUDE, seriously is the brand name. Pretty funny name for a dress with lace and tassels.

Any, here is what I did to refashion this baby:
Cut it all up..

Cut loose the tassels in the upper area for movement.

Sorry for the photo, but this dress is way way sexier in actual. :)

Day 7: Unappealing Gray to Subtle Sexy Chic

I think we can all agree that the possibilities with this one are endless. It took me days before I could decide its final fate. This is just an exciting piece!

Jennifer, Kim and Olivia helped me decide. I just knew I had to sex it up a little bit.

After cutting it short and adjusting the fitting, here is what I ended up with:

Would you believe that I only shelled out 25 pesos for this dress? :)

Day 6: Good Little Girl Dress

Another oversized long sleeve top to turn to a cute dress. And here is what I did:

Cut off the sleeves down to the sides to give it some shape.

Remove the pockets to be sewed back later.

Make new sleeves by just cutting the long sleeves from the cuff part upwards depending on how short you want your sleeves to be. In this case I had to adjust the circumference as well. I have to standards or pattern in making sleeves, I just follow the shave of the present one I'm working with. It is a matter of trial and error really, and I learn along the way. Isn't that nice? :)

Sew it back again this time in its proper and permanent position. :) (we had to do this to adjust the placement of this cute pockets to the aesthetics of the new dress.

Here is the finish product:

Total cost: 25 pesos

She wore it when we went to dinner at Bento & Snacks. :)

Inspired by Adventure Time Song: Good Little Girl

Lyrics:
Good little girl
Always pickin' a fight with me
You know that I'm bad
But you're spending the night with me
What do you want with my world?
You're a good little girl.

Bad little boy
That's what you're acting like
I really don't buy
That you're that kind of guy
But oh if you are tell me why
why not just say good bye?

Good little girl
you've stolen my heart away
i like how you smile
and make fun of the words i say
who would have thought i could fall
it's not so bad after all.

Day 5: What the hell is this?

Is this a night shirt? Is this a night shirt for men? LOL. What the hell was I thinking buying this one? Although I didn't know what attracted me to this, I can't just discard this plaid thingy. I have to make this work because I'm OC like that. Figuring out what to do with it is half the challenge. And of course the second half is the completion of the plan. For a person who has no formal training on sewing whatsoever, I just crossed my fingers and see if I can really make it work.

I removed the lower pockets.

I guessyou know what this means..

I made a some mistakes with this one. And I don't need to tell you what. :) It is the kind of mistake you just realize after all the work is done. Anyway, I still think it is pretty cute. :) and way cuter in actual.
